April may be out of town, but that isn’t stopping her from bringing you new things. I’m told she’ll be making lists like this every Friday from now on; if you find something fitting on your own, you could even send it to us, either here or on our Facebook account. Enjoy.
- Harper Voyager Open Submissions: Harper Voyager (an imprint of Harper Collins) is accepted unsolicited manuscript submissions for a limited time. They are specifically looking for “adult and young adult speculative fiction for digital publication, but particularly novels written in the epic fantasy, science fiction, urban fantasy, horror, dystopia and supernatural genres.” The last day to submit your manuscript is October 14, so you better hurry!
- 10 Essential Books for Book Nerds: Brought to you by Flavorwire.com, this list shows you the books that are about books that book nerds should love. I’m sure I could somehow add more meta layers, but I’ll leave it at that.
- Bookshelf Porn: Whether you want to be inspired, or just sit in awe, check out these marvelous bookshelves and book art. Don’t worry, everything on the site is work safe.
- Literary Quotes Coloring Pages: This site combines two of my favorite things—literature and coloring. Simply pick out your favorite quote, print, and then entertain your inner child!
- The Dwarves Hobbit Movie Poster: Because we’re all a bunch of nerds here, we have to end the list on a fan-boy/girl note. If you haven’t heard that the first of three “The Hobbit” movies (based on the classic novel by J.R.R. Tolkien) comes out on December 14th, then you haven’t been paying attention!
