Hi, I’m Kristin Hiler. I’m a senior English major with a concentration in Writing and Publishing and minoring in Spanish. I began college as a Biology major with a love for stream ecology and though I’m still passionate about environmental affairs, I became aware that English is the only major for me. What interested me most about the University Press is their involvement with publishing companies around the world. I hope to learn more about the publishing process and how writing can bridge the gap between differing cultures. Along with interning here, I currently work at the University of North Georgia’s Center for Global Engagement as an International Peer Advisor where I aid fellow students towards their own study abroad experience. I’m usually quiet until a Liverpool FC match is on, then the screeching ensues, and I can’t stop talking. Besides those beautiful moments, I like to read Tim O’Brien novels, watch foreign films, and dream up the next place to travel. After graduation my plans are to become a Peace Corps volunteer (tentative departure in June!), teach English in South Korea, and then possibly get my Masters in either Public Administration or International Communications. These experiences will hopefully land me a dream job (I’m just not exactly sure what yet). My overlapping goal is to be happy through traveling and learning.
