Hello, everyone! My name is Collette Whittemore, and I am a new intern at the University of North Georgia Press for the summer. I am a senior twice over. I have been in college since 2012, but I would like to think that I have a well-rounded education. I enjoy learning and I think my long education has shaped me for the better. I am an English major with a concentration in Writing and Publication, and I finally graduate in August!
When not working for the Press, I will be serving at the quaint family restaurant, Papa’s Place, in Dawsonville. I will also be outside enjoying a hike, inside watching Netflix, or filling out job applications. I have many interests and here are just some of the many:
- Hiking, exercising, camping, traveling, swimming
- Singing, dancing, acting, listening to music
- Writing poetry and short stories
- Anything related to Harry Potter
I am so humbled to be working with the University Press and I’m excited to learn more valuable and useful information. I am hoping that this internship will provide me with useful information to be able to apply it anywhere my feet choose to take me. I am a Dahlonega Nugget, as we locals say, and I have lived here my entire life. After moving away for about five years and living in other parts of Georgia, I have been bitten by the travel bug. I hope to travel to as many places around the world as I can while writing for magazines and television, and I hope to write a bestselling novel series. I am not quite sure if the publishing industry is for me yet, but that is one of the reasons I am here. Regardless of my future career, I know that working for the Press will be a step in the right direction.
