In honor of National Scrabble Day, we have collected a list of high-scoring and practical words to play during your next word game. While there are many high-scoring words that can be played in Scrabble, not all of them can realistically be played during the game. Many of us may dream of playing the 1778-point word Oxyphenbutazone, but the truth is that this word has never been played and most likely will not be without the perfect set up.

JO: Common as a nickname, the word Jo is an 11-point word when played in a Scrabble game.
ZU: Zu is a word that is derived from Akkadian mythology and scores 10 points.
ZAX: Zax is a hatchet-like tool. The three-letter word scores 19 points.
WIZ: Short for wizard, wiz scores 15 points on the Scrabble board.
JEEZ: Jeez, meaning a mild expression to show surprise, scores a whopping 20 points for Scrabble.
FUZZY: Fuzzy is a high-scoring five letter word, coming in at 25 points.
WHIZZ: Commonly spelled with one z, whiz is accepted with two z’s in Scrabble, scoring 28 points. Without the extra z, it is only worth 18 points.
JAZZ: Jazz, a common music genre, is a 31-point word in Scrabble.
JAZZILY: Jazzily scores 6 additional points than “jazz,” adding up to 37 points on the Scrabble board.
