UNG Press Team Reflects on DBF

Decatur Book Festival was an all day event with many activities, merchandise, books, and conversations to be had. The UNG Press team share their reflections on their key takeaways:

What I enjoyed most was introducing visitors to UNG Press and sharing how our work can benefit individuals both within and beyond the university, particularly through our Open Educational Resources (OER). I was also pleasantly surprised to encounter members of the UNG community at the festival as well, including alumni and former UNG Press interns who stopped by our booth.

— Associate Director of Editorial and Marketing, Nicole Clifton

It was great to hear all of the different lists everyone enjoyed reading. There was representation of every genre of readership there from thriller to nonfiction to law reference titles.

About UNG Press: OER and Open Access

As Nicole mentioned above, the UNG Press has long been a partner with both ALG and eCore, and we have a mission and vision of a future where scholarly publishing is open, inclusive, and transformative. We strive to expand access to knowledge through peer-reviewed works, open educational resources, and innovative learning tools.

Throughout the event, we saw a need for open access and OER texts to support the needs of faculty across different fields and educations. We shared our OER and Open Access links via QR codes and they were often met with excitement about free resources.

The University of North Georgia Press is the leading university press in the state for Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Textbooks.
