UNG Press Helps Launch Major Southeast Publishing Symposium

The University of North Georgia Press (UNG Press) is pleased to announce the inaugural Piedmont Publishing Symposium, scheduled for May 28–29, 2025, at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This collaborative regional event marks the beginning of a rotating annual symposium organized by Clemson University Press, Hub City Press, University of South Carolina Press, and UNG Press, whose joint vision is to foster dialogue, opportunity, and growth within the Southeastern professional publishing and writing community.

The two-day event is tailored to a wide array of audiences—authors, academics, publishing professionals, students, and emerging writers—offering practical insight through a curated series of panel discussions and networking opportunities.

UNG Press Leadership in Action

Representing UNG Press, Corey Parson, Managing Editor, and Bonnie J. Robinson, Director, lead key symposium sessions and helped shape the event’s strategic and educational direction. Parson helms “Book Production: An Introduction for Authors,” delivering technical insight into the mechanics of book creation alongside notable panelists from Vanderbilt University Press, University of Tennessee Press, and Hub City Press. Dr. Robinson, a leader in open pedagogy and open education resources (OER), participates in two sessions: “Open Access and Scholarly Publishing” and “Finding the Right Publisher for Your Project.”

A Vision for Regional Collaboration

The Piedmont Publishing Symposium is envisioned as an annual event, rotating among the institutions of its founding partner presses. In launching this new tradition, UNG Press reaffirms its mission to lead in innovative, accessible, and community-centered publishing and to support both seasoned and aspiring professionals across disciplines.
