Year of the Books Chat: February

Oh, Romance novels, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways . . .

All joking aside, I love Romance novels. I love reading about love. I want to escape into it. To get lost in the clichés and the victories and the Happily Ever After.

I didn’t always love Romance. As a kid, I didn’t understand why people would voraciously read them. It’s just the same story retold, right?

Wrong!

One could argue that all stories are just a retelling of a different one, due to things like ‘tropes’ and ‘themes’ and other English 1101 words.

Each love story is a unique experience between two people, just like real love. It may follow a pattern, but the relationship between people is impossible to replicate.

Don’t judge a book by its genre. Break free and read something different. You might discover a new favorite.
