The creature in the cavern growled, and its voice reverberated throughout the chamber. I refused to breathe as I was pancaked onto the ground next to a large boulder; its shadow camouflaged me from the tiny streams of light poking through a hole in the ceiling of cave. The crackle and crunching of sticks and rocks filled the room while the creature marched past. All that was visible of its body as it lumbered away was the protruding, fleshy fan on its back and a spiked tail covered in blood.
