My name is Gracie and I am a senior at the University of North Georgia where I am studying English, writing and publication with a minor in graphic design. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to work with the UNG Press this semester. After graduation, I am hoping to attend graduate school for English rhetoric. I am also a current applicant for the Fulbright scholarship for a potential study award for next year.

The UNG Press internship was an absolute blessing for me to come across, as I really enjoy editing and had no idea where to start to get into the industry. I would love to work as an editorial assistant after graduation while I am continuing my education. I have been passionate about writing since my grandma taught me to write my own sentences when she was babysitting me at the age of four. I have been an avid reader since about the same age. When I took the publishing course that is required for my major, I immediately fell in love with the publishing industry and the art of editing. I am hopeful that my background in both graphic design and English will work to my advantage in the publishing industry.
Apart from my internship, I also do a lot of freelance writing and editing as well as maintaining my own blog. When I am not writing, I love to paint, go out in nature, read a good book, or do some yoga. I also really love coffee. I have a very cute cat named Ringo, and he and my mom are definitely my biggest motivators. I have loved college thus far, and I am ecstatic to continue my education after graduation in the spring. I am looking forward to seeing the tools that the Press will give me to pursue my post-college goals. I know this semester will bring great opportunities, starting with my position at the UNG Press.
