“I shove the cash into my jacket pocket before boarding the plane.”
I shove the cash into my jacket pocket before boarding the plane. I meticulously counted out the bills to a grand in a bathroom stall prior to the flight. I don’t trust people or my luck enough to leave the money in a purse or wallet. A grand was hardly a prize in today’s economy, but it was more money than I had ever seen in my life. When I reach the steps to my escape route, I can’t help but let out a breath that I didn’t know I was holding. Four hours from now, I would start over.
I shove the cash into my jacket pocket before boarding the plane. Haggling for a plain white bagel at the food stand had cost me thirty dollars. At this rate I’ll be losing money on this trip, I thought dejectedly as I bit into the stale and lifeless bagel. Closing my eyes as we took off, I reviewed the plan in my mind. Land, go to the hotel and clean up, meet the investors at L’Axel Restaurant, and close the deal. I counted the rumpled bills in my pocket, hoping to scrounge for a bite when we landed. Money will only be an afterthought once you close this deal.
